What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are learning programmes designed for all people aged 16 and above.
Apprentices train on-the-job, learning the specific skills that their employers most need in their workforce.
What is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)?
NVQs are for any age group and are work-based qualifications that recognise an individual's ability to carry out a particular job role to national standards. Although NVQs are currently being phased out into QCF, some qualifications will remain being called NVQs.
Both training programmes aim to offer an alternative to full-time study for learners keen to progress and achieve qualifications, build sound foundations for successful careers, provide employers with competent, motivated recruits and staff.
